Kylie Davis: Hi, it’s Kylie Davis from HomePrezzo here, and I’m here with James from Emprove, which this is the best piece of [inaudible 00:00:12] I’ve seen at the show. I love when guys do that.James:Thank you.
Kylie Davis: So run us through what Emprove does.
James Noel: Sure. Emprove is a home improvement platform for homeowners. Our premise is that homeowners don’t have the capacity to really responsibly engage their contractor and start their projects with clarity. So what we do is we bring them in, they have a bit of a design experience with us where they show us what they like and they go through and look at design inspiration images. And once they click on the one that really resonates with them, we give them cost information right there immediately, which they can engage with, they can customise whether they’re luxury or best value, whether they want a whole renovation or whether they want to do small amount of work. We give them an estimate and then we empower them to then resolve a project scope that they can afford. And then we send the project out to bid where multiple contractors bid their projects. We then return to the consumer the bid summary. They get to make a selection with all the information in front of them. And now they’re really empowered and have a bit of leverage asthey manage the contractor.
Kylie Davis: So that’s the reason I think what you’re doing is great is that as a real estate agent, when you’re going to appraise a house, you see all the problems in their, right?James:That’s right.Kylie Davis:And you’re often the bearer of bad news in telling a seller what they have to get fixed before they go to sale. And buyers, when they go to look at things that they know need fixing, catastrophizing their head.
James Noel: That’s right.
Kylie Davis: But there’s two ways I guess that your product can help. Well there’s a couple of ways, but one way would be to give a seller a report that they can hand out to buyer or that buyers can see exactly what the cost is going to be and the quality of the fittings and all that sort of stuff involved in it.
James Noel: That’s right. We’ve given the agent the tools to come onto our platform and really engage with the platform as a consumer. So really you can provide the consumer with the value when you know that the kitchen you’re about to walk them into doesn’t meet their needs. It may be in the right zip code, maybe the right size, may have the pool that they’re looking for, but you know it’s not going to be the kitchen that they need. You can help them get a bit more comfortable with the notion or the idea thinking on home improvements by bringing a flyer with you or actually doing a full project detail for them on their behalf. And you can walk them into the home with this information. So then you would have already anticipated what they weren’t going to like and you will have already accommodated for them. So I think they’d be pleasantly surprised that you would have done all this work. And it’s really a unique value proposition. Really nobody has these types of tools, and so you can set yourself apart as a real estate agent, bringing them this type of value.
Kylie Davis: Because the only thing more stressful than buying or selling a home is renovating a home. Right?
James: Exactly right.
Kylie Davis: And if you’re a landlord and you’ve got a property manager, then the property manager is going to do all that for you. I guess if your tool is basically allowing either a real estate agent or even a normal time consumer to really break down their project and putting it all into one central spot.James:That’s exactly right. The best part about it as well is we put it out to bid and we get the contractor quotes for you, so you don’t have to contact them on your own. We do that for you and we give you something very clear and concise for you to pick up from.
Kylie Davis: And really detailed. Thanks so much, James. Great to meet you.
James Noel: My pleasure. Cheers.
